With the release of Toy Story 4 you might have found yourself going back to rewatch the Toy Story movies in order and if you didn’t notice, the newer versions of Toy Story 2 are missing one problematic scene and it isn’t by accident…
Disney Just Deleted A Scene From Toy Story 2 Because of #MeToo.
Disney rereleased “Toy Story 2” in June on Blu-ray and digital and some people were quick to notice that a post-credit scene was missing from the show.
In the gag reel at the end of the 1999 movie, Woody catches Stinky Pete getting chummy with two younger dolls in his figurine box. The sheriff doll is taken back and looks quite shocked.
While that may have seemed more funny than inappropriate but being in the #MeToo era, where young women’s allegations of sexual misconduct by Hollywood executives in recent years exist, you can see why this scene would be anything but funny.
In the original scene, Stinky Pete is seen talking to the girls:
“And so you two are absolutely identical?”
“You know, I’m sure I could get you a part in ‘Toy Story 3,'” he adds as he reaches for one of the dolls’ hands.
He then quickly pulls away when he realizes he is being watched.
And quite honestly, people’s reactions are the opposite of what I thought. I thought most would be all for the scene deletion but instead, people are expressing tweets such as:
But honestly, this person might be onto something…
So, what do you think? Was it a wise choice for Disney to remove this scene?
