Netflix Just Dropped ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2 Trailer
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 coming to Netflix at the end of this month, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect for me to be super giddy about the release!
I still refuse to leave my house, except when absolutely necessary — gotta get that toilet paper while it’s at the store, AMIRITE? As such, I have binge watched just about EVERYTHING on Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime!
Last week, I finish Ozark, on Netflix. OMG, if you are an adult, and you haven’t seen it — it’s a MUST watch!!
Before that, I finished Dead To Me — and now I’m devastated, because they just announced that Season 3 will be the end of the show!!
BUT, just this week, I watched all 10 episodes of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. I just happened to see it listed as a Netflix Original, and decided to watch it on a whim. OMG — 3 hours later, I had to make myself go to bed!
It’s kind of hard to tell you the premise, but there are Superhero Siblings, a talking monkey who wears a suit, there is time travel, Ellen Page is in it (Juno), and Mary J. Blige is in the cast.
Yes, THAT Mary J. Blige! AND, they are all trying to stop the end of the world.
The first episode of The Umbrella Academy starts with a group of girls who go into labor, even though they were not pregnant just moments before. A man takes great interest in these babies, and adopts 7 of them. As they grow, they all develop powers.
And, voila, we are off and running with the Netflix original series!
The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series of the same name, put out by Dark Horse Comics.
In 2011, it was optioned as a film for Universal, but it was shelved. Then, it was picked back up as a TV series, and I’m so glad that it was!!
Season 2 will be coming to Netflix on July 31. Netflix has released a big, long trailer, which you can see below. It looks SO good!! I can’t wait.
There’s definitely a big change in setting, that’s for sure, and we tried not to change too much the approach of how to tell the story musically. I mean, we used a lot of really great songs in season one. We’re going to be using a lot of great songs in season two.
